Once the decision was made to set up the PPS Wash operation the Management looked at a number of dedicated industrial washing lines. A large percentage of the plastic crates and pallets returned for wash are very heavily soiled – animal fats and blood, grease or other organic waste. Although equipment is returned to us often highly contaminated, our clients demand that we return crates and pallets to them in pristine condition. Crates are usually returned to PPS with a number of labels attached, which of course must be removed before the crate is returned to the client.

With this in mind our Operations team worked closely with the machinery manufacturer to specify a wash facility that would allow the breakdown of animal by-products, remove ingrained blood and fats and vitally, dislodge and remove paper labels and their adhesive backing. This involved adding extra wash jets and extremely high pressure pumps. Furthermore, even with such extra functions we did not want to lose efficiency on unit throughput.

The end result is a wash facility that can cope with severe staining and soiling at high speed but which is still cost-effective.

The wash line is extremely flexible and a number of specifications in terms of depth of cleanse can be varied according to each customer’s needs.

Site invitation and viewing

We welcome any customer or potential client to contact us to arrange a visit to our wash site to inspect our facilities and to discuss their individual requirements with our Operations Manager.

We furthermore encourage potential customers to see a working trial wash of their own product. The client brings along his own product in such condition that it would normally be delivered to us for cleaning. The product is then physically processed through the wash facility, watched by the client and is subsequently inspected after washing at the “clean end” of the wash line.

By arrangement we will carry out larger scale trials for clients, to which again, they are welcome to inspect and observe, discussing any modifications with our Operations Team.
